More sanding and more paint.

Tired of sanding, so I decided to work on the flange that will go around the perimeter of the body. I used tileboard which is masonite with a smooth finished side. I made a templatre with several pieces of posterboard strips and then traqced it out.

I was making a mess of the garage sanding the drywall mud so I put some wheels on the workbench and took it outside. The rear wheels are the same width as the front si I don't really have a lot of room for the rear fender vents. Holding the 1/18th Hot Wheels model over it I can see that the angles are right, but it's just not wide enough. I may need to widen the fender and the the wheel be recessed a bit. FINALLY, I get to see the car in black. There is plenty of sanding left to do, but I just wanted to do it. Seeing it all in one color also helps to see what needs attention. I went ahead amd painted over the exposed foam, intentionally letting it melt it. This will make room for the next layer of mud and the roough texture makes for a good bond. In the last picture you can see that it still needs a lot of work.
